Meeting date has been adjusted to not interfere with Easter family celebrations. Location has been updated. We will be using the same facilities for the meeting as previously. Please attend and earn points towards your next training! Notes for the meeting below:
The TRP is honored to welcome John Blackadar as our guest speaker for the April Members Meeting. John became a recovery diver in October of 1960 when he responded to the crash of Eastern Airlines Flight 375 in Boston Harbor, joining a handful of local divers in the ad hoc rescue/recovery effort. Shortly thereafter, he and several members of the South Shore Neptunes founded the Quincy Underwater Recovery Team. Over the decades, John has conducted recovery operations throughout the region, investigated accidents for the Divers Alert Network, and remains a prominent figure within the New England diving community. His efforts through the Bay State Council of Divers have contributed to increased awareness for diver safety, expanded lobster harvesting rights, and preserved shore access for SCUBA divers and beachgoers.
But wait, there’s more!
With dive season rapidly approaching, we want to sweeten the deal for those who’ve sacrificed their Saturday afternoon to be with us. Attendees of the April Member Meeting will receive 10 TRP Member Points, instead of the usual 8. This grants enough Member Points to immediately cover the cost of any of the following classes offered by East Coast Divers:
- Freediving Level 1: Part 1 (pool/classroom) – 10pts
- Freediving Level 1: Part 2 (open water dives) – 10pts
- Nitrox Diving- 9pts
- Equipment Techniques – 5pts
- Visual Inspection/Fill Station Operator Nitrox/Trimix Blender – 5pts
Please note: the TRP Member Points system is currently only available to veterans, service members, and Gold Star family members. Non-members may earn Points for attending events, but only TRP members in good standing may exchange those points for training. Enrollment is subject to class/instructor/funding availability, and priority is based upon member involvement/activity. Please visit our website for Policy and Program details.
